Dear Smith Families,

We are pleased to welcome new and returning families to another great year at Smith Elementary School. Please note the following:

•  New address: 221 Farmington Ave. New Britain, CT 06053
• The first day of school is Monday, Aug 31, 2026 (Full Day)
• Regular School hours are 8:55 a.m.-3:35 p.m. (doors open to students at 8:45 AM) 
• Your student will be considered tardy after 9:00 a.m. and needs to be walked in and signed in at the office. 
• Half-day schedule is 8:55 a.m. - 1:35 p.m. (doors open to students at 8:45 a.m) 
• The 2-hour late opening due to inclement weather is 10:55 a.m. - 3:35 p.m.

 If you plan to dismiss your child early due to an appointment or another reason, please inform the secretary and the teacher in writing ASAP, but no later than 2 PM. Pick-up needs to be before 3:05 p.m.

Uniforms are required for the 26-27 school year. Universal uniform consisting of a solid white, navy blue, red, or yellow collared polo top, and khaki, navy blue, or black dress slacks, skirts, dress, shorts, or skort bottoms.

Continue to visit both the district's website, https://www.csdnb.org, and Smith's Facebook page and calendar for the most up-to-date information.

You must create a PowerSchool Parent Portal account so you can have access to view your child's attendance, grades, and other important information. Instructions on setting up an account can be found on the CSDNB website under PowerSchool - Parent/Student Portal.

• Dismissal Procedures: Parent pick-up will begin at 3:30 pm. Please bring your picture ID. Your child will not be released until a staff member checks your ID. (There are no exceptions) 
• Bus information will be coming soon from the transportation department. If there are any changes to your students normal dismissal routine, please notify your child's teacher in writing by 2:00 pm. We must always know the current method of transportation so that your child gets home safely daily.
